Register as a DAS Adviser

If you were an approved DAS money adviser at 23:59 on 30 June 2011 you will continue to be a DAS approved money adviser unless the DAS Administrator revokes or suspends your status.

Applying under regulation 8

To become a DAS approved money adviser you must meet the criteria specified in regulation 8 and you must not be exempt under regulation 10 of the 2011 Regulations.

If you do qualify under regulation 8 and you are going to be your organisation’s main account holder for the Debt Arrangement Scheme Hub (DASH) then you should complete the DASH registration form with your contact details.  If you will not be acting as your organisation’s main account holder for DASH then you should complete the registration form with the contact details for whoever will hold this position.  Please initially check if you organisation already has a main account holder, if it does then please approach them to have your DASH account set up.

Applying under regulation 9

If you do not meet the criteria under regulation 8 and you wish to be approved you can apply to the DAS Administrator under the conditions specified in regulation 9.   If you believe that you meet the conditions specified in regulation 9 you can apply to be a DAS approved money adviser either electronically, incorporating an image of the organisation you work for,  or in writing to the DAS Administrator

Your application must include

  • your name and business address;
  • a statement of your suitability to act as a money adviser for the purposes of DAS (why you think you are suitable for this role)
  • evidence of any relevant training you’ve undertaken (where possible incorporating dates and details of the training provider) and
  • a valid criminal record certificate under Part 5 of the Police Act 1997 (a disclosure Scotland certificate) dated less than 12 months before the date of your application

Schedule 3 (Money Adviser Training) specifies the topics you should have knowledge of to be classified as a fit and proper person to provide advice for debtors for the purposes of DAS.

The DAS Administrator may approve an application, if she is satisfied that you are a fit and proper person as specified in Schedule 3 and are not an exempt person under regulation 10 of the 2011 regulations.

Please be aware that the information you provide will be shared with an independent 3rd party who will assist the DAS Administrator in determining whether or not to approve your application.

The DAS Administrator will aim to respond to your application within 10 days of receipt and the DAS Administrator’s decision is final.
