The Debt Arrangement Scheme (DAS) is a government-run debt management tool which allows a debtor to repay their debts through a debt payment programme (DPP).
The DPP allows the debtor to pay off their debts over an extended period of time whilst giving them protection from their creditors taking action against them to recover the debt in the DPP.
The DPP can last for any reasonable length of time and if approved will freeze all interest, fees and charges on the debt included, resulting in them being written off when the DPP is fully completed.

DAS is also normally free. DAS approved money advisers at CABs or local authorities normally provide free advice. However, some other approved money advisers may charge a fee for their service.
